McDavid, Skinner Lead Oilers to Victory Over Stars

The Edmonton Oilers have advanced to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006 after defeating the Dallas Stars 3-1 in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Connor McDavid, who scored the game-winning goal in the third period of Game 4, assisted on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' goal early in the second period to give the Oilers an early lead.

The Stars tied the game with a power-play goal by Miro Heiskanen at 15:45 of the second period, but the Oilers regained the lead just over two minutes later when Evander Kane scored his second goal of the playoffs.

Mike Smith made 36 saves for the Oilers, while Jason Robertson scored the only goal for the Stars.

The Oilers will face the Eastern Conference champion Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Final, which begins Wednesday, June 15.

It will be the Oilers' first appearance in the Stanley Cup Final since 2006, when they lost to the Carolina Hurricanes.
